She also teaches how to cane and rush chairs. Day and week courses are held during the year, dates can be found on the website. Day courses are 10 am – 4 pm on specific dates, whilst 5 day courses are held 3 times a year where students can leave their project in the studio for 5 days. The studio has recently been refurbished and is a very light space with large tables for students to work on. Beginners and those with experience are all welcome. Tools and all upholstery suppies and equipment can be bought at the class or on mail order.
Rachel Lewis teaches Curtains, Blinds and Cushions on specific dates. She has her own business and is very experienced in teaching how to make professional looking curtains and blinds.

In a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere, you will have the chance to bring out the best in your furniture, and create an opportunity to feel proud. Whatever your drive to learn upholstery, our upholstery courses are an enjoyable opportunity to really get to know what it’s all about.
This 6 week traditional upholstery course is very much dictated by what you wish to achieve. You’ll benefit from seeing a variety of works being completed alongside your own project, class demonstrations and one-to-one support. The beauty of a weekly class is the available time to complete homework if you wish to really make the most of tuition during the lesson – you can achieve so much more!
All proceeds from our public upholstery courses are used to help fund The Woodworks Project’s charitable activities, so by enrolling on one of our courses you are directly helping vulnerable and disadvantaged people in our community.
For course dates, details and to book online, or to find out more about the work of our charity please visit the website.
