| All fillings satisfy Schedule 2 Part 1 of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations 1988 relating to non-foam filling materials singly. You may not know that hair, wool, feathers and leather are inherently fire retardant, although leather needs to have a F/R chemical added to bring it up to crib 5 |

Why eider is best
If you thought that eider down was obtained by plucking or shaving then you're wrong. Iceland is the home of the eider duck where around 250 farmers have looked after eider settlements for generations. The delicate down is the moult collected from the female in two lots, before the eggs hatch and when they leave. As only 17g is usually collected from each nest you can see why it so valued. As the eider can live for thirty years, a strong bond develops between the duck and farmer.
